Mrs. Lisamarie Deveau
Hello, and welcome to 8th grade Language Arts! I am so excited for the opportunity to teach and learn alongside Coppinville's newest 8th grade class! My name is Lisa Deveau. I am originally from Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on Long Island, which explains my love for the beach and really great pizza. :) My husband and I have been married for 24 years. We are blessed with three beautiful children: our oldest, Stephen, who is a United States Marine; Christopher, who will be a senior at EHS this year; and Alyssa, who will be in 11th grade at EHS as well! We also have a black lab, Riggs, who thinks he is a human, and our cat, Kiowa, who prefers to keep to herself.
We have been 24 years in the military before finally retiring and settling in Enterprise. Traveling across the globe and experiencing the privilege of meeting so many wonderful and new people has allowed me an affinity for learning about different cultures. I hope to bring that love to the classroom to help make connections and forge respect for all of our wonderful differences!
What will our classroom look like? I love to use technology to broaden our search for knowledge. I believe that students should own their education, and take the time to understand not just what we are learning, but why we learn it, and how they can best learn according to their individual needs. I love discussion and hearing what our future leaders have to say and contribute. I also like to allow for creative outlets and enjoy finding different ways to assess student understanding.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you! Never miss an opportunity to make even the smallest difference in one person's life.
ALL students will be responsible to bring:
1 Composition Notebook (wide-ruled!)
Wide-ruled loose leaf paper
1 package of colored pencils
Highlighters (minimum yellow, blue, green)
1 package of pencils for the classroom
**Any extra materials you would like to donate to the classroom are so greatly appreciated...but especially pencils, tissues, and Lysol wipes!
