Extended Day

Extended Day - Student/Parent Information Guide

PURPOSE
Extended Day is an extended learning opportunity for students to receive instructional assistance i core curricula subjects.  The program also offers assistance with extended instruction, homework, classwork, test preparation, and study skills.

TIME SCHEDULE
Extended Day begins at each school at approximately 3:10 and concludes at 4:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  NOTE:  Enterprise High School may provide services from an alternate time schedule.  The program will follow the schedule of the regular school calendar.  If schools are closed due to holidays or inclement weather, the Extended Day Program will no offer services.

ELIGIBILITY
Students must be enrolled in Enterprise City Schools to be eligible to attend Extended Day classes.  Students may be recommended by a teacher, counselor, or administrator based on academic need.

LOCATION
Extended Day classes are offered at each of our elementary and secondary schools.  Each school will designate classrooms for Extended Day.

PARENT PERMISSION
An Extended Day registration form must be completed and returned with a parent/guardian signature before a student receives services in the Extended Day Program.  Parents can obtain additional information about the program from the site coordinator, extended day teachers or program director.

ATTENDANCE
All Students registered for the after school session are expected to attend and be on time every afternoon they attend school, unless written parent notification is provided to the Extended Day teacher.

TRANSPORTATION AND FEES
Transportation is provided by parent/guardian.  There are no attendance fees required for Extended Day Services.

DISCIPLINE
Standard of conduct is the same as for the regular school day.  Failure to comply with rules of conduct may result in a child being dismissed from the program.

LATE PICK UP
Parents must arrive on time to pick up their children from the Extended Day Program.  When a parent realizes that they are going to be late, the parent must contact one of their emergency contacts to arrange transportation.  If a child is late being picked up, after the third time the student may be dismissed from the program.

WAITING LIST
Students are enrolled in the program based on recommendation from school faculty.  The Extended Day Program attempts to ensure that students who are recommended receive services.  However, due to circumstances such as teacher/pupil ratio, students may be placed on a priority waiting list.

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
The Extended Day Director administers the program in the school system.  The school site Extended Day Coordinator directs the program in his/her school.  The principal is responsible for all activities in his/her building including the Extended Day Program.  The principal in consultation with Extended Day staff may dismiss a student for repeated late pick ups, behavior problems, or failure to comply with program procedures.

EXTENDED DAY FACULTY
Teachers in the Extended Day Program are certified employees of the Enterprise City School System.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
Extended Day may be cancelled due to inclement weather.  Parents/Guardians will be notified in advance should this occur.

ILLNESS
Students who are absent from school during the school day due to illness may not attend extended day.  The school nurse is to be notified of a student with a health condition who is attending Extended Day.

WITHDRAWAL FROM PROGRAM
Written notice must be provided by a parent to the Extended Day teacher if a student plans to withdraw from the program.
